sorry a bit dumb today. i mean i know you rae ill you have great big red itching spots all over you. but do you act ill?

dd1 was off school yesterday with dirroreah and was up and down all day. i thought she wasnt eating but later discovered a previously unopened empty packet of biscuits and loaf of bread so that explains that one. but she still wasnt herself and used the loo a lot. later red spots started appearing. dh had a look and thinks they are chicken pox. they are on her tummy and back but no where else.

but the thing thats bothering me is she wasnt that ill yesterday and this morning she is diving about my bed like the duracell bunny on speed. surely she cant have chicken pox?

Some children are ill with it, others aren't. Dd had cold-like symptoms for a couple of days beforehand, but got worse once she'd had the spots for a couple of days and she was pretty grotty with it.

Chicken pox are yellowish blisters over reddish spots. Think my Ds was not really himself with it, very quiet! don't recall upset tummy though, but it was over 4 years ago, so memory not fresh.

well she was more tired than usual over the weekend and has a bit of a cough but i had put that down to a busy week with school and dancing.

DS wasn't ill at all with chicken pox - spotty, yes - but still going at full throttle. Staying home for 6 days was not pleasant !

psychomum5 · 30/09/2008 09:14

some are, some aren;t. some are not ill until the end, some are ill at the beginning, and some are really poorly before the spots.

mabel1973 · 30/09/2008 09:14

DS1 wa fine with it, other than the itchiness, DS2 had a temperature, upset tummy and generally very poorly. He was only about 15 months at the time.

bellavita · 30/09/2008 09:19

When mine were small, DS1 was ok, perhaps a slight temperature beforehand but that's about it, but when DS2 got them two weeks later, he was horrendous and a proper unwell little chappie.

mabel1973 · 30/09/2008 09:21

oh forgot, DS2 was also sick at the swimming baths the day before his spots came out.

SheikYerbouti · 30/09/2008 09:24

DS1 was poorly - he ran a high temp for a few days and had D&V for 2 days before the spots came out (and he only had a few)

DS2 showed no signs of illness whatsoever and was covered in them.

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 30/09/2008 09:32

yes she was saying she was going to be sick last night. but then she had ate a whole loaf of crusty bread and packet of biscuits. although i think that was over the whole day and will have been shared with dd2.

DD1 was very unwell with them.

DD2 was neither here nor their?

Although they both did have a higher temperature.

DS1 was languishing on the sofa for a few days. DS2 hardly noticed he had them (they had them at the same time). This may have had something to do with their characters of course
