thought it was an asthma attack earlier. am not sure now. she isnt wheezing, or problems breathing, just a horrible hacking cough. she is propped up on loads of pillows.

think she has a cold. but it never comes out through her nose, always goes to her throat and makes her cough.

once we move house,i will keep a z-bed tucked in their room for nights like this. will save me getting up and checking on her iyswim.

i always worry more when she is like this. we havent had a hospital admittance with her breathing for so long now, and dont want to go through all that again. is v scary.

she seems to be completely settled now. so will attempt to get myself to bed now before i fall asleep on the keyboard.

thanks all.

Oh Misdee how did you get on? Sorry you had such a rough night. What has dr said tonight?

misdee · 30/09/2008 18:07

gp saide her chest was clear. but as it keeps getting tight, he has perscribed some predisanol (cant spell, steroids tabs) for 3 days, to open up her airways. hopefully tonight will be better. he suspect its the start of cold season affecting her asthma.

Well that's encouraging...I'm glad you've got something to give her now. I hope you get to sleep tonight! Poor old dd.

misdee · 30/09/2008 18:11

feel a bit crap tbh, as should've guessed it would be this, but was in denial.

Oh you can't know these things. That's what Drs are for - you did absolutely the right thing. It may not be asthma anyway - the number of times Ds has had that diagnosed and I'm still not sure he even has it.

The inhaler helped a little last year when he was coughing at night, though...asthma or not.

misdee · 30/09/2008 18:17

ah but she is a known asthmatic. and have been through it before.

Sorry thatw asn't v clear, I mean it might not be that this time. But all you can do is try isn;t it? See how she goes tonight.

misdee · 30/09/2008 18:20

i hope they work. they usually work quickly. just need some sleep.
