Measles has an incubation period of 7-21 days! The first symptoms are normally catarrh, conjunctivitis, fever and feeling ill. Then the spots appear. It's rare in babies under 6 months as they are normally protected by their mothers antibodies. Keep an eye out.

poshtottie · 14/09/2008 07:58

avenanap, is that right? NHS direct said it was 9-11 days and the website that boysarelikedogs linked to said it is two weeks.

Now am worried and confused. Thought we were in the clear.

thanks riven, I have been giving him vitamins for a while now as he is such a bad eater.

I have been worried sick and am preparing myself for the backlash from people as he hasn't had his mmr.

I beg to differ. My brother had measles (pre mmr) and was extremely ill. Why no mmr then? I thought the concerns surrounding it had been discredited. I'm most definately not having a go ...just curious thats all. I hope your nephew and ds are both ok.

poshtottie · 14/09/2008 08:38

kiddiz, my nephew is only 7 months so no mmr yet. My ds was due to have singles shortly.
