Diabetes – am I being overly neurotic here?

Dd (3.5) was ill last week and has been very much up and down ever since. Seems to have plenty of energy and runs round like crazy then comes crashing down and is very weepy. Also has been falling asleep whenever she gets in the car which is very unlike her.

She?s been drinking quite a bit, which I put down to the running around but last night she woke up twice in the night for a wee, and on both occasions her pull up was absolutely soaking and leaking. She?s often dry at night, but not reliably (hence the pull up) and I don?t think I?ve ever seen her wee so much overnight. I did notice a faint smell of pear drops at the time.

Anyhow, thinking about it this morning it did trigger a faint thought that this was linked to diabetes. I was going to leave it a few days and see how she got on, but after looking through the archives here there seems to be a consensus that if there?s a suspicion of diabetes it shouldn?t wait. Any thoughts? I don?t want the doctors to think I?m being ridiculous, but equally don?t want to leave it if there is a problem. I'm not convinced that's the problem, it could just be one of those things.

I've had type 1 diabetes since i was a kid and i had a lot of those symptoms .... but there was no way i had plenty of energy, i was very tired all the time.

I was drinking loads, a few days before i was diagnosed i drank 4 x 2litre bottles of pop in a morning

I'd take her to doc just in case....if she starts being sick take her straight to hosp

It could just be a water infection tho
