Anyone had to get their toddler's nose cauterised?

dd has been having nosebleeds for about 4 months.

went to the gp and she gave us an antibiotic cream to use to try and help it heal but she's continued having the bleeds.

this morning she had a very heavy, gushing one, i was half dressed to head to a&e when it stopped.

i'm heading to gp's on monday and she's going to refer dd to the ENT clinic and says the next step is cauterisation.

what exactly does that involve and how is a 3 year old likey to cope? does it hurt?

Hi Pink

My cousin had this done when we were little and I remember she said it was like they put a matchstick up her nose.

She didn't seem too bothered. She must have been about 6ish?

Hope your dd is ok.

sounds harmless enough then... i had horrible images of singeing and burning type things going on as my only frame of referance for 'cauterisation' are historical and fantasy books

she walked into my bedroom this morning with her entire face covered in dried blood, she'd had one while she was asleep and hadn't woken up [sigh]
