DD is 6 and recently lost her first front 2 teeth just in April. The front two new adult ones are growing well - but looks like this with white spots. I'll take her to the dentist but is this normal?

Looks like it could be fluorosis. Does she swallow toothpaste?

Was she on strong antibiotics at around 6 months - 2 years old? Some antibiotics, especially in the -cycline family, can affect developing enamel if taken by kids aged up to 8ish, but more commonly if taken in baby- or toddler hood. It can appear as white flecks or streaks on teeth but doesn't necessarily affect the strength of enamel.

This is not fluorosis , the tips of these teeth are formed late in the womb and early babyhood , so long before toothpaste is used.

It is also not tetracycline or other antibiotic related as they are very recognisable and this looks nothing like it and also these are not used in early babyhood on the U.K. and elsewhere for this reason.

It is , most likely , MIH (molar incisal Hypomineralisation) , often caused by minor illness in mum or child in late pregnancy or early babyhood.

It does not weaken the tooth , it is most often just a cosmetic problem, it may well look better as child gets older. There are treatments , such as icon, which are available privately when child is much older but given time this may not be notable.

Ds has spots like these on his teeth. The dentist told us not to worry but now that he is 14 has recommended a higher fluoride toothpaste at bedtime. Unlikely to be something to worry about but a check to be sure is no harm.

Yes DS has this too. It is starting to get better now at age 8
