New smooth bald spot on my five-year-old's crown, awaiting GP

Hi there, my 5 year old son suddenly has a small smooth bald spot at the crown of his head. It could appear like the parting but looking back through photos I can tell it's new. I've googled and have obviously come across alopecia which I'm now really worried about. I've booked a GP appointment but all I can do for now is wait. It's been a week and it's no worse but no better. I've read that if alopecia presents this young it can be a bad sign for what's to come so suppose I'm looking for positive stories or experience with this kind of thing not amounting to much? Thank you
