Severe skin peeling on DS hands and feet

DS (age 12) returned from a school trip with dry, cracked peeling hands and toes. Went to the GP who said it looked like sunburn, but it wasn’t painful. DS apparently got bitten by a tick on his trip but the GP ruled that out as being linked. Suggested it was dermatitis and gave us a steroid cream to apply for a couple of weeks.

It’s been a week and his hands are a little better but still dry and peeling. More worryingly it’s now spread across the soles of his feet and knees.

DS isn’t too bothered himself - it’s not itchy or that painful - but this doesn’t seem normal. I’ve family members with eczema and it’s never presented like this. Has anyone had similar? Could it just be the heat? Or should we return to the GP?

Hmmm, fungal?

Son with eczema had similar sounding but they never actually figured it out, they prescribed hydrocortisone but they seemed a bit unsure so not sure if it just went itself

Return to the GP, see a different doctor.

The soles of the feet presumably don't have sunburn, so it must be something else. Eczema is a possibility.
