Anyone had a baby's fontanelle seem small at the 6 to 8 week check?

My LO had his 6–8 week GP check today at 7 weeks old. During the examination, the GP mentioned that his fontanelle (soft spot) appeared smaller/more closed than expected, although she wasn’t certain and wants a paediatrician’s opinion.

His head circumference measured 38 cm (around the 50th centile), and otherwise the GP said all of his checks and developmental milestones looked normal.

Has anyone else experienced this with their baby? What was the outcome? I’m feeling really anxious about it and would appreciate hearing other people’s experiences.

I’ve gently felt the area myself and it seems to be about two fingertips wide, but I know it’s probably more complex than just feeling the soft spot.
