How old is your DD?

my 18 yr old woke up with a rash all over her face a few months ago - it was vey blotchy and remained for just over a week - nurse was pretty unfussed, wasn’t sure if it was something viral or an allergy - just suggested antihistamines and cool water spray

Shylo · 17/05/2026 10:54

Argh sorry, just seen the pics - it didn’t look like that, ours was very flat and all over rather than spotty …. Yours doesn’t look like an allergy rash

Ohdearnotthisagain · 17/05/2026 10:56

Possibly impetigo/school sores. If so, highly contagious and can come with fever and headache. Treatment is an antibiotic prescription cream.

Whatever it is, make sure she’s constantly washing her hands and not touching until you can see a doctor.

Could be chicken pox…face not usually where it starts I don’t think though. Is she well in herself?

Fukinell · 17/05/2026 10:58

I thought it was chicken pox

Diva4646 · 17/05/2026 11:05

She has been a little bit ill common cold over the past couple of weeks really snotty. And a couple of days with a high temp

Probably sound really naive here but what are school sores?

Hi! She's just short of being 3 x

It does look like chicken pox but it’s unusual for it to be nowhere else on her body.

Awrite · 17/05/2026 11:08

Yeah, could be chicken pox. One of mine had it on her face.

Tulipvase · 17/05/2026 11:10

Has she had chicken pox? Is it only on one cheek?

also, could it be hand foot and mouth. I think you can get blisters on the face as well as in the mouth.

Diva4646 · 17/05/2026 11:17

It's both sides of her cheek and she hasn't had chicken pox yet?

It looks more like acne to me than chickenpox - they look a bit like later chickenpox, but not early days.
However is it just in that line, because it could be shingles - is there any chance she's had chickenpox or the vaccine? If that's a possibility then I think you do need to get her checked out as it's close to her eye.

However it may be a "viral rash" roughly meaning she has a virus and a rash and they have no other answers. Ds used to get them, and more often they were flat, but he did have one bout where they were raised, although not as bad as them.

Sorry x-post.
I'd get that checked - you may be able to do it at the pharmacy or out of hours as she's been ill too. At that age it's worth knowing.

barkygoldie · 17/05/2026 11:19

They look like developing quite blistery, fluid filled, which made me think chicken pox. If it is then probably throughout the day you will see more blisters develop elsewhere. Temp and diarrhoea were the first symptoms in my DD if I remember. A pharmacist might be worth a visit this morning.

stargirl1701 · 17/05/2026 11:25

Hand, foot and mouth? Any spots on her feet or hands?

OtterMummy2024 · 17/05/2026 11:47

School sores = impetigo, highly contagious bacterial skin infection. I would be going to the GP or pharmacist.

Diva4646 · 17/05/2026 12:01

I'm just about to take her to the walking centre so I shall I update you all... thank you all I'll be in touch shortly

How’s your daughter? Hope she’s ok.

PurpleLovecats · 17/05/2026 23:27

Was it chicken pox?

Diva4646 · 18/05/2026 12:30

Hi Everyone, so we were sent to the medical plus, who then referred us to the walk in centre as they thought it could have been scarlet fever? After 5 hours of waiting doctors have said it is viral? She is still poorly today so im just going to keep an eye on her, thank you to everyone for their concern and well wishes x
