Persistent rash at the corner of my child’s mouth, any ideas?

My child has had this rash on the corner of his mouth for over 2 weeks now. I initially was using sudocrem for a week which made no difference, then got fucidin cream in case of impetigo but it's not working. It's just getting worse.

Im going back to the gp today but does anybody have any idea? Its is red and rough to touch. When it first appears it's almost like little spots. When it gets moist (he is a very moist boy for some reason so his mouth is always quite wet!) It gets a lot redder.

No yellow crusts to be seen. Sometimes some white skin flakes comes off.

Please help!

Did you figure it out? My son has something just like this.

I was going to ask if he has an inhaler but you mentioned it in your last post. My son had exactly this, found out it was from steroid inhaler. When we switched him to a mouthpiece instead of a mask it went away. Your son looks like he might be too young for a mouthpiece (he could try though) so if that is not possible, make sure to wash the spacer regularly. We were using all kinds of creams and I found out that some can make it worse. My son is 9 and still suffers from similar rashes occasionally but nothing like as bad as when he had the mask chamber.

So we're still waiting for a response from the dermatologist, but the benzyl peroxide is definitely the best thing we've found so far. But it's so weird as it he does really well, rash barely there and then randomly it will come straight back, little whiteheads appearing just overnight.

I have actually come to a new hypothesis that i think it's raw tomaotoes?? I know that sounds absoloutly mental but ive noticed a pattern so right now im still using the benzyl peroxide and completely avoiding tomatoes for him. So far it's really going good and his face is almost clear. Gonna keep going and cross my fingers!!

Yes i still wonder if the inhaler caused it. Im super strict now and wash the inhaler mask after every use now. Still in flouride free toothpaste (havent noticed this changing anything, so will go back to flouride when the tube runs out)

But yeah, even following this strict routine- inhaler then benzyl every night after gentle cleanse and pat dry. Morning inhaler, gentle cleanse, pat dry, sudocrem (i dont want to overuse the peroxide) inhaler washed after use morning and night.

Still the rash is strange the way it randomly flares. Last week one day we were all munching on cherry tomatoes and it flared super bad. Could be a coincidence, but i will try anything!

Sympathies OP, you're having a stressful time. My youngest had something similar recently and the pharmacist suggested epaderm cream, which cleared it up. Hope you can get him all better really soon.
