Silly question but is temp of between 38 and 39 normal with a head cold for children? Very blocked nose, sore tummy and aches and pains bit of sore throat! CalpoL not really getting temp down and using nurofen now too! Thank you

It certainly can be as colds come on such a spectrum of severity. Don't be too worried about the number itself (within reason), go more by how the child is in themselves. Alternating ibuprofen and calpol works well but it can be helpful to write down when you give doses so you don't have to rely on memory.

A high temperature is classed as 38 or more on the NHS page. The page tells you when to seek extra help.

Yep it has to be over 38C to count as a temperature. Mine always get a temp with a cold, particularly in the evening when cortisol levels drop which suppress temperatures during the day.
