Hi Allergy / SEN / Complex Health Parents,
Does anyone have any recommendations or experience with a private healthcare/ gp registration for their child /or themselves with their child free?
How has your experience been?
How much did it cost?
What did it cover and what did you have to pay extra for?
Would you suggest staying on the NHS?
Our situation :
My son is 3, he has multiple complex allergies, he is Atopic and also has Complex Health Challenges due to having RSV & Brochialitus Hospitalisation as a new born.
He has a tendency to require hospital treatment every 3/4 weeks for respiratory illnesses that become bacterial & allergy treatment & testing.
His health presentation is complex and we have had trouble with accessing and recieving consistent and competent support at our health centre which resulted in a daily fever being dismissed for 6 weeks. It is suspected that the bacterial infection he had 7weeks ago was under treated.
This lead to him being incredibly unwell and requiring emergency admission to paediatrics in hospital with IVs, tests the lot. It was very necessary but could have been avoided.
He is also on the SEN pathway with his local authority.
I have been looking into whether a private GP membership for him or for myself where 1 child is covered for free would be beneficial to streamline his treatment so it's more uniformed. Ultimatly his treatment is via the NHS. So I'm not sure how helpful it would be?
Thank you so much for all and any advice,
KK
