Anyone else struggling with long waits for children’s operations?

Waiting for toenail removal.

Waited for a referral, waited for the appointment and now waiting for the operation. This is operation number 26 for him so we know the drill. It's going to be 3 months to a year waiting because although it's painful, it's not life threatening. He keeps asking when he is having the operation.

Yet again I feel like I can't arrange anything that needs booking in advance in case we get a date. This will be his 4th operation in 2 years. At the moment it's like he is permanently on the waiting list for something.

Yes, our son waited almost a year for an operation. Our hospital had a system where if we couldn't make a date offered then he just got the next in line rather than going to the back of the list. In the end we were lucky and got a last minute cancellation otherwise it would have been over a year.

Thankyou. Really hoping to get a cancellation. Last year he had an operation that was meant to be a year waiting and we ended up waiting over 3 years.
