Threadworms

Think DD has threadworms for the first time. We’ve all had a dose of Ovex and I’ve washed all bedding and towels and hoovered. Knickers and pjs on at night. Morning shower
First question-is that enough? How do people stay ontop of washing bedding and everyday?!
Secondy-I cannot face this again. Is there any reason to not use Ovex regularly as a preventative measure?

Give her the ovex in 2 weeks time. To be on the safe side

Pharmacist told me 2 weeks ago that a second dose shouldn’t be taken unless there are still visible signs of worms.

Pharmacist told us to take the second dose two weeks later. This is why we all get so confused about what to do. Drs & pharmacists are so blasé about it. One even told me eggs can’t survive that long & can only be ingested from anal scratching hand to mouth. If that’s the case then how is it so common?!

It’s confusing. But the Ovex Family Pack states

A single dose of Ovex will kill threadworms. However, it may not destroy their eggs, which can cause re-infection and also infect other people. It is therefore recommended that all members of the family (except pregnant and breastfeeding women and children under 2) are treated at the same time and that precautions are taken to prevent re-infection.

If symptoms continue, tell your doctor.

In case of re-infection, a second tablet can be taken after two weeks.

Edited

My doctor told me to give the second dose as you dont always see the worms.

Only my son took the second dose. Rest of family didnt need to

I’m a bit concerned that it’s been three days and I thought I’d see lots of dead worms in her poo but I’ve only seen one. Does this mean the ovex hasn’t worked?! She’s not experienced any more night itching since Saturday night. Should I re-dose?

I’ll be honest we’ve had three doses so once a week since finding them. Not seen any worms in her poo since the first week. How are you getting on @Schnauzerwoz
