Does this umbilical cord look infected? **TW: photos attached**

My baby is 1 week old. It’s a little weepy but not smelly. Baby hasn’t got a temp. Does this look like normal healing? I believe the yellow areas are the umbilical cord not pus, but obviously can’t be sure.

There’s no photo visible OP! From what you are saying it doesn’t sound abnormal but you should ring your midwifery team if you have any concerns.

Do you have a HV or midwife who you can contact by text or social media and send a picture? It doesn't look alarming but at the same time I can see why you have concerns as it does look slightly red with some discharge.

One of my DCs became infected - there was a definite smell to it. But it does look a bit red. If you can't get hold of your MW at the weekend, I would ring 111 and see if they can get you an out of hours appointment with a GP. Some antibiotic powder from the GP soon cleared up the problem.
