11 year girl and urination

Bit of an odd one but my daughter is 11 and she rarely needs to go to toilet to pass urine. She honestly only goes 2 - 3 times a day and even then says she has to make herself go as she never really feels the urge.

Today she’s has 2 pints of water and 1 pint of Pepsi and has only been to the toilet once and that was about 2pm this afternoon. I thought she went this morning before we left our house at 7am for a day trip but she says she didn’t and she said she never goes at school.

Shes only ever had one UTI when she was about 8 and is not showing any signs of one now plus this has been going on for several months, last noticed it on another day out where she didn’t ask for the bathroom at all and when I asked she didn’t need to go.

I know going very frequently can be a sign of a problem but I’ll feel a bit stupid taking her to the GP because she doesn’t go very often but guessing this would warrant a visit just to rule out any issues with her bladder?

Any ideas about this or ways to help her realise she needs to go more often? I’ve tried explaining she may have problems with her kidneys or bladder when she gets older if she doesn’t go often enough

I think you're in danger of creating a problem where there isn't one and giving your DD a complex. I know it's the holidays but a third of her fluids from cola isn't great if that's the case every day.

I have a duplex kidney and wasn’t discovered until I started randomly bed wetting as a teenager but I never used to go literally didn’t get the urge and it was because (in layman’s terms here) the tube with the sensor on it that tells you to pee was partially closed I had another tube much further up.

@Needtosoundoffandbreathe

she’s had 3 pints of fluid today and only passed urine once and literally never feels the urge to go. Said she hasn’t for months.

I was posting as I was
concerned this may be indicative of a problem with her bladder, not for a ticking off about what’s she’s drank today 🙄

@BeMellowAquaSquidif you don’t mind me asking, how often did you pass urine / how much did you drink a day prior to this being discovered? I’m just a bit concerned that she should be needing to urinate more than once a day or that she should at least feel the urge to go more than that

Until I had kids I had the bladder of a camel OP! I’d pee in the morning and just before going to bed, drank regularly throughout the day…just a cast iron bladder, when I flew to Oz I didn’t need to use the airplane toilet once🤣(how I miss those days and how I took my camels bladder for granted!).

I have both my kids that don’t feel the urge to go very much.
I understand it as an interoception thing. One of my children doesn’t feel an urge but a pain when Bladder gets really full. That’s when they know to go.

I do not understand it at all. I could be in there once an hour if I had the opportunity!

I can go hours without peeing, I’ve always been that way. It’s never caused me any problems, and last time I had blood tests done my kidney function was completely normal.

No problem I’d probably pee in the morning maybe once at school if I absolutely had to and then again before bed. Wasn’t much of a drinker never have been. Have you looked at the colour and smell of urine? If it’s not concentrated then the fluid she’s drinking is enough but could be a problem elsewhere.
