Slapped cheek or scarlet fever?

My 9 month old daughter has a rash on her cheek that looks really sore. She's snotty and got a nasty cough that's made her sick a few times now. She's very whimpery and just so unhappy. Any ideas?

Firstly, the only way to be sure is to get the GP to take a throat swab.

However, unlikely to be scarlet fever as that starts on the chest usually https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/scarlet-fever/

Could be parvovirus or you could have a teething baby who also has a nasty cold/cough. I would expect slapped cheek to be both cheeks and a bit worse-looking tbh. But if you're pregnant or around pregnant friends/family, I would err on the side of seeing the GP to be sure.

I hope your baby feels better soon, it's rotten when they're ill. I frankly wish I had given Calpol etc sooner/more often during teething and some nursery bugs.

I don't think it's scarlet fever now. I agree it's unlikely. Poor thing though, she's not been happy at all.
Her cough is very raspy and she sounds like her throat hurts as her voice is squeaky even when she cries bless her.
She's having a bit less milk this morning so will keep an eye

Got an appointment for tomorrow as the rash was peeling and she's now getting a rash on her back. No temperature though. Given Calpol and lots of tlc xx
