How to help a very snotty 15 month old go off to sleep?

He nodded off an hour ago but it was a very light sleep. He’s breastfed and likes to stay latched so was having difficulty getting air in! Anyway I managed to unlatch him but he was labouring breathing through his snotty nose and just not really getting into a good sleep.

He woke up half an hour ago and is drowsy but just not going back to sleep. DH is gently rocking him now, holding him vertically, but the eyes will not close as he can’t breathe through his nose!

He also has a bit of a chesty cough. Does anyone have any tips/advice please?

The Calpol vapour plug in are very good..just make sure it is not plugged in too near to his cot/bed.

Poor boy! Poor you!

Vicks or similar on a hanky near DC but not within reach/not at risk of falling on him.

Roll up a towel or blanket and place it under the head end of his mattress.

Tomorrow - saline nose spray, steam up the bathroom with before bathtime.

Keep up the breastfeeding as much as poss to keep him hydrated
