Advice on blood in baby’s stool, allergy’s or vaccines

Just wondering if anyone has experienced something similar with their baby.

My daughter is 15 weeks old and exclusively breastfed. About a month ago she started having small amounts of blood in her stool. We went to hospital the first time and, as she was otherwise completely well, they said it was likely an anal fissure from straining. She’s always quite explosive with her poos, especially in the mornings, which is when it first happened. We were told to monitor her and return if it continued or if she became unwell.

Since then, it’s been happening on and off (sometimes up to 3 times a week) for the past month, but she still seems totally fine. Because it’s ongoing, she’s now been referred to paediatrics and I’ve been advised to cut dairy from my diet in case of a milk allergy.

Today she had her second set of jabs (6-in-1, rotavirus and MenB). The rotavirus vaccine mentions possible tummy upset, which made me wonder if there could be a link, as the blood started after her previous jabs. The nurse said it’s very unlikely and that if the vaccine had caused internal issues she’d be much more unwell and in pain. Still, it feels a bit coincidental. I’m wondering if the tummy upset caused straining and a tear, or if the rotavirus vaccine could have contributed in some way (I’ve read rare cases online).

Has anyone noticed blood in their baby’s stool after vaccinations? Or has this happen with an exclusively breastfed baby and found the cause? Has anyone else had the same issues with baby and found it out to be an allergy ? I’m not blaming the vaccines , I’m just trying to get the root of the cause

Please be kind I’m not some vaccine conspiracist , I’m just a first time mum with a baby who’s not 100% and trying to figure it out what’s causing this so open to peoples experiences as I’m worrying for the worst.

Thank you 😊

I’ve never heard of bleeding from the rotavirus vaccine. I’d be asking for GPs referral to the correct specialist ASAP as frequent blood in stool is quite concerning.

Yesterday they referred us to pediatrics and said I will receive a letter in the post. Slightly worried about how long this will take though. On top of the fact it’s been ongoing for nearly a month now , they just keep saying keep an eye on baby make sure she doesn’t seem unwell and because nothings worsened they didn’t seem worried. But yeh It’s not exactly normal isn’t it , not sure why they aren’t rushing her into pediatric. Thinking I will take her somewhere myself as every day sitting around waiting for this letter isn’t fair on little one who’s obviously got something going on.
