Child on antibiotics and a big dose should I be nervous?

My son has just turned 5 last month and he’s currently got a temp and very lethargic. his tonsils are enlarged too and earlier on he had hives for the first time. It’s just been a lot. He’s been prescribed an antibiotic but it’s two bottles 100 ml each which the doctor never mentioned. It’s also an 10 ml dose 3 times a day. He’ll be having his first dose soon. Can anyone share their experience with their child taking this and the dose and if they faced any side affects. Balancing it with the Calpol and ibuprofen he already has been having is not going to be fun

10mls isn’t necessarily a big dose, it depends on the dilution/concentration

He’s to go through two of these

My son has has amoxicillin a few times. It isn't an unusually big dose, and when medicine comes in liquid you often end up with multiple bottles, that is quite usual. He didn't particularly like it, I had to mix it with fruit puree to get him to take it. It did give him diarrhoea.

As per the British National formulary that is the correct dose for a 5 year old.

It is 500 mg 3 x a day which is a perfectly normal dose .

Yes. Doesn’t mean it’s a big dose. That quantity is needed to complete the course

you will find you will have some left over in the second bottle as they give you 2 to cover the 5/10 days your child needs it for. my daughter has had that akot off times and she is ok that is the right side for there age.
