Anyone’s toddler have SVT?

My son was born with SVT and was on 2 different meds 3 times a day from birth - 18 months. He was weaned of all meds last April and we’ve had 0 follow up from the hospital. Anyone else’s child have SVT - does this feel normal?

He seems well in himself but he always coped really well with his SVT - it was never attacks but often just a really high heart rate all the time. He is frequently exhausted and lethargic. I’m requesting a follow up appointment but tbh my concerns have been dismissed by most GP’s I’ve seen.

It just feels odd to be weaned off meds and then have no follow up, ever? Anyone with similar experiences?

Hello. Slightly different situation because my daughter also has a congenital heart defect so will always be on yearly follow up. But she also had SVT as a baby and was on propanolol for 18 months. We see the cardiologist because of the other issue but he doesn’t ever mention the SVT really.
it does still worry me! But I hope I’d now be able to see if she was having an episode. And I will occasionally listen to her chest.
we were told that often SVT resolves and never returns, but sometimes they can have
episodes again around the age of 7/8 (I think) x

Thank you, that’s so helpful to hear your experience. Sorry to hear about the heart defect, it’s so stressful isn’t it? How is your child now? I’m with you in the propanolol club, we also had a different med called flecinide which they told me he couldn’t take with milk… famously difficult to avoid that with a newborn!! I remember having to space out his milk so he could have his meds, and calculating 30 mins before he could have his next feed. V fun times 😂

I have requested a follow up because of the exhaustion but the problem with him was he was never having an episode, per se, it was more he just constantly had a fast heart rate and we could never tell because he tolerated it so well. Like giggling playing etc all with a 200 bpm heart rate!! So that’s why it’s stressing me, I’m worried I’ll miss something and not know about it. But obviously he’s a proper little boy now who can talk and tell me if he’s feeling unwell, so maybe I’m worrying for no reason.

anyway! Sorry this was a bit of a tangent!
