Marks on skin 10 years after scarlet fever

Hi,

I wondered if anybody might know what this skin thing is?

My DS had scarlet fever quite badly when he was 6 years old, with the full rash all over his chest and face and everything.

Every year since then, instead of tanning normally, if the sun catches his skin, he gets these patches of brown or orange stuff.

I wondered if anybody might know what that means, or what it is, or if we are meant to do anything about it?

He has a lot of other health problems too and I'm not sure if they are related. I don't really want to go into the details as it is complicated.

We are seeing an NHS paediatrician soon about that, and I just wondered if anybody might know about the skin thing?

Thanks!

It could be post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation

It can also happen after chickenpox.
