Gas and acid reflux baby, when will it stop?

Our baby boy suffers from this. He had his tongue tie cut, this did nothing. We have tried infacol. I guess gripe water is our next step. We burp him well etc but he is fussy/uncomfortable from gas I would say 70% of his alert time and sometimes can’t sleep at night because of it. I suspect it doesn’t matter what we try, it’s something he will just grow out of when his systems mature, He is 5 weeks. Just looking for some words of encouragement to keep us going. Really trying to not let this beautiful period feel ruined by this but it’s hard and just want to know when I’ll be over?

Unfortunately it tends to be a case of the bigger they get the less reflux affects them.
You could ask the GP for medication and look up alternative ways to wind on YT for a bit of help but he will gradually grow out of it.

They will probably outgrow the gas issue quicker than the reflux. Typical time frames for outgrow reflux is 4-6 months when they stronger but also start sitting and get better trunk control.
I'd see how you go on over the next couple of weeks, you'll get an idea of how much of it is gas related which should be starting to improve and whether the reflux is getting worse rather than better. The reflux might need a bit of treatment, this can be in the form of a thickener such as gaviscon for milder reflux alongside behavioural changes (more time upright and looking at more frequent smaller feeds) or omperazole which reduces the amount of acid the stomach produces for more problematic reflux

I'm not intending to be unhelpful, but just a warning that my 11 month old STILL suffers from painful wind at night. She's teething at the moment, which makes it worse and it's surprising/confusing/frustrating what foods upset her now she's on solids. I also EBF and ended up cutting out dairy and soya, which did help somewhat - but her digestive system is just taking its time to develop it seems... Her sister was similar, though not quite as bad. I couldn't let her have tinned sweetcorn till she was 3 as it upset her stomach so much! So, I'd definitely investigate solutions but also try and enjoy your gorgeous baby as much as you can!

Oh it was long! I remember crying to the health visitor around this point because he was sicking up all the time. I tried everything from gaviscon to special formula. But unfortunately some babies are just more sicky than others and they just have to grow out it as they get bigger. It went on for months I'm sorry to say, but gradually bit by bit it got better and then one day I remember thinking oh wow he's not been sick in a while and it just stopped. It's tough but it will stop eventually.
