Can anyone advise re my DD’s verrucas?

There are 2 close together on her heel. We don’t know how long they’ve been there but a week ago I started doing salicylic acid and tape. The salicylic acid was softening the hard skin a bit, but we decided to switch to just tape which has been on for a week.

I just took the tape off and part of the verruca has come off. There is a dot in the middle of the remaining good looking skin, so I’m not sure if that means part of the verruca is remaining? I put the piece that came off in the photo as well.

any advice appreciated! Should I cover the verruca that is still there and leave the better looking one uncovered?

And I did rip the tape fairly savagely and deliberately with her permission. She’s 17

Imo it doesn't look like the other one has been removed. I had verrucas on my feet, knee and hand for about 3yrs. Yes, very gross. I tried all sorts to remove them. One day, I woke up and they'd all vanished, overnight, no sign of them even being there. It was very odd.

I think you need to keep going with tape on both. It usually does take longer than that to fully go away. One looks better than the other but they are still both present.

Unfortunately, if you read any other verruca related threads on here, they can hang around for years. Apparently they need treated/filed/suffocated ad infinum.

thought I’d had a big win with the one that came off, seems I will need it persevere.

I remember picking one of DS's verrucas out when he was 5 - we'd been doing the painted stuff for months. Then one night I went to check on him before I turned in and it was almost popping out - one little pull and it came out, left quite a crater! The skin around took a while to get back to normal.

I'd leave them both covered up op. Great that you're getting gunk out though, you should share the next peel off on sporners corner...

Seconding the keep going advice. Also as many beach days as you can manage! Sand and salt water seems to do them a lot of good.

Use a disposable nail file and file the surface of that one with the black dot in it. That is the root of the verruca and as long as that thing has a root it will continue to grow. The other one looks like you might have got it but keep an eye on it. I used a magnifying glass on Ds's foot as he kept getting them. Some children are just prone to them.

File, cover, check, it is almost like learning spellings at school Grin they are persistent arseholes verrucas.

What strength of salicylic acid are you using? I've got 17% which is the strongest you can buy etc it believe it's really got ds verrucas down he had his behind his toenail! Typical teen boy said nothing about it until it was pushing it up and hurting when he walked (for a few months)
