16mo swollen red tip of foreskin

Hi all,
Looking for some advice. Ds2 (16 month) woke up with the tip of his foreskin looking red. I bathed him and put sudocrem on it. A few hours ago I changed him again and the tip looked swollen and it seems to be facing the side rather than straight down.
I rang the gp surgery and they said they don’t have any appointments today and have booked him in to see the nurse tomorrow at 9am.

Should he been seen today? Not sure whether to ring them up and ask if there is any cancellations or if it will wait until tomorrow. He has had recurrent tonsilitis and currently on antibiotics for it which has been causing him to have diarrhoea. I change him as soon as he has a bowel movement but worried it’s caused an infection.

Any advice appreciated!

Thrush maybe? Especially after and on antibiotics. When my oldest had thrush his foreskin presented that way.

Thanks for your reply :) I was thinking that! He’s been on iv antibiotics and 3 sets of oral antibiotics within the last two months so it would make sense.
He seems fine in himself but keeps trying to grab at his nappy so not sure if it’s causing him pain or not. 😫

It’s probably balanitis, common in boys especially when they get to the age they fiddle with their bits (when changing, bath time etc) he will probably need a cream for it.

Probably irritated by the upset tummy which will be quite acidic. I'd say treat it like nappy rash but with an upset tummy I doubt you want to be getting some air to his bits. Could try an oat bath (bung some oats in a sock, tie it up and let them soak in the bathwater before hand.

I second this, this is often how thrush presents in boys. Canestan cream treats it very quickly.

Thanks all!😊 I kept bathing it yesterday and applying sudocream. This morning he’s woken up and it’s went back to normal and no longer red. Think it must have just been due to nappy rash from his upset tummy.
