Elidel (Pimecrolimus) for child face eczema

One of DC has face eczema that we had been managing with Elidel for about 8 months on and off. Never been able to come down to the maintenance treatment of twice a week. It would flare and in fact would come back worse.

We have only seen private derms - NHS lists are over 18 months - and they are basically all saying “carry on using it”. I am not happy with that as deep down I am bothered by the weak yet still discussed cancer risk.

Can you share your experiences of being on Elidel, how long you used it for, if and how you managed to come off it? Thank you!

I don't have personal experience, but current best evidence is that there's no increase in cancer risk. So if you can let go of that worry, do.

I have seen that, thank you! :) Unfortunately, as with all biomedical research, it is usually a matter of time before a conflicting paper comes out. Or maybe there won’t be one. x
