Please delete if I’m in the wrong place

Where do you park when you take your child here??? It’s a nightmare

It’s terrible parking there, but I’ve found parking at Trenchard St multi-storey which is up the road to be reliable

yestothat · 13/06/2025 20:31

Have always found it easier to get the train and walk to the hospital

ScrummyDiva2 · 13/06/2025 20:33

Trenchard Street multi-storey car park. Just up the road from the hospital. Best place to park. There’s also a free shuttle bus that goes trom Cabot circus car park. https://www.uhbristol.nhs.uk/media/4591457/bristolshuttlett22042025.pdf

Whenever we've been to Bristol children's hospital it's either been in a taxi or alternatively one of us drops off in a car at the entrance and goes in with DC and the other goes off to park seemingly miles away.

PeckyGoose · 13/06/2025 20:40

As above. Trenchard street is a 5 minute walk or use the hospital shuttle bus which from memory goes around the park and rides and temple meads and some other key locations.

Are you happy to say where you're travelling from? That may give some other options too

I think Trenchards going to be the one. We parked at Rupert street today and those Christmas steps almost killed me!!

First visit today, I should really have looked into it better.

thanks!!

Trenchard St, but also the park and ride is pretty good.

There's also a premier inn just down the road with a bookable car park. It's not just for hotel guests - I've booked two nights there before when we've stayed one night in the hotel and the second night (post-op) in the hospital. I've used Your Parking Space to book.

When I was a student at Bristol we used to use the Trenchard street lifts to get from the bottom to the top, that was before they made them work with a parking ticket! If you are using Trenchard street I'd recommend trying to park on whatever it is on that street level, is it 8 or 5 or something? It's not usual for a number of homeless people to gather in the bits outside the lifts which, whilst I've never had a bad experience them, isn't particularly pleasant to navigate if you have a young child with you

Ahhh have to go back next week for 7:30am 😩😩

JustAMiddleAgedDirtBagBaby · 16/06/2025 22:41

Oh we had that once. We live three hours away...

Which direction are you coming from?

GeorgeBeckett · 16/06/2025 22:47

7:30am will be fine for parking, you could probably get a space in the BHOC or St Michael’s at that time if you wanted. If you are staying in then you can just pay for an hour and the ward will then let you park free after that for the duration of admission. Hope it goes ok.

wankynamechange · 17/06/2025 10:42

Coming from Gloucester.

we were thinking (and hoping!) that being there early will help find a parking spot, just day surgery thankfully.

I don’t understand why they built hospitals in the city centre with rubbish parking? Or haven’t built a new children’s hospital yet on the outskirts maybe? The last time we were there prior to this was 18 years ago and I arrived in an ambulance with my son and didn’t leave for a week so parking here is new to me.

I would also say trenchard st but being that early means you might get a spot at St Michaels Having visited out of town hospitals, parking is often as difficult but with added bonus that it is also difficult to get there by public transport as well...

PeckyGoose · 17/06/2025 14:04

Fuck parking at St Mike's and having to walk back up the hill 😆

We used Trenchard street for day surgery but of course it depends what the surgery is and how mobile the child will be after. Mine was for a hernia repair but on a baby in a buggy so walking back to the car after was no problem.

wankynamechange · 17/06/2025 18:17

Oh no no no to St Michael’s hill 😂😂 I wouldn’t make that nevermind ds.

Im thinking trenchard but depends how ds is on the day. He’s having colonoscopy and endoscopy so might not want to walk far after

Thanks @PeckyGoose he’s quite ill but hopefully we can just go to our local hospital now.

It was human 💩 Wasn’t there when we parked the car 🤮 there’s a few homeless there, absolute star sat by the paying machines helping people with it. Bristol council should pay him!
