Chickenpox after Tonsilectomy, Adenoids and Grommets

Anyone experienced chickenpox whilst their child is suffering from and tonsillectomy, adenoids and grommets. My lg is really struggling with temperature and obviously because of the chickenpox we are unable to give nurofen. We have taken her to the hospital and she is on antibiotics for inflammation too. Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated.

How old? My eldest needed codeine for pain relief but she was 12.

What are the doctors advising for pain relief? They can give a weight based dose of paracetamol which is usually higher than the age based dose on the packet.

Did she get given oramorph when she was discharged? All of our tonsillectomy kids go home with it.

@Toddlerteapleaseshe got given it when we were in hospital when we went for the inflammation but that’s it

Agree she should have Oramorph. We were able to bring it home after my daughter’s tonsillectomy. Poor child, can you contact the hospital?

I’d see if you can get some from the OOH GP. Although some places are very funny about giving it to kids. Paracetamol on its own is not going to be enough. Poor thing, he must be feeling absolutely rotten.

District general hospitals are very funny about oramorph. We give the stuff out like sweets!
