Hair loss 4 year old girl

I’ve recently noticed my daughter’s hair has got thinner around her hairline which has also coincided it feeling like there is stubble around where she has lost it (when she sits on my knee and I rest my chin on the top of her head I can feel it). When I clicked that her hairline is getting thinner, I had a good look and can see that there are v short hairs coming in in certain places. What on earth could this be?? Is it a good sign that there are short hairs? I would have thought if she’d lost hair and it was regrowing then it wouldn’t feel like stubble…

Does she go to school? Has someone had a go with some scissors?

Does she twirl or pull her hair?

Do you notice it in her brush? If not, is there a chance she’s yanking it out herself (particularly as it’s around the hairline).

My daughter lost 3/4 of hers aged 2. Had a bunch of blood tests and never found anything of significance

Don’t think anyone has done it, it’s all the way round her hairline (across forehead, round temples, nape of her neck).

Feel like there may have been slightly more in her brush than usual but not sure if that’s me overthinking now I know it seems to have been falling out!

She also doesn’t play/twirl with her hair

Did your daughter’s hair come back? We went to the docs earlier in the week and they said to keep an eye on, but I can’t stop thinking about it and think I should go back to press for bloods to be taken

I'd speak to the GP. Ask for bloods to check iron, b12, thyroid. It's probably just baby hair shedding but if you're worried it's worth checking it out

Yes bit its not the same texture - much coarser and tangles really easily

Do you put her hair in tight braids a lot? My DD was having a lot of hair loss and I stopped doing that and it improved a lot.

It is usually in a ponytail but wouldn’t say it’s particularly tight, plus it was always wee baby hairs around the edges so wouldn’t have been under strain as wouldn’t have been in the bobble
