8 month old on antibiotics for tonsillitis is this normal?

LO been on antibiotics for 48 hours so far, 7 day dose

we’re on day 5 of him basically crying every waking moment

im finding it hard to cope mentally with a 2 year old and imagine much worse for him

js this normal? Shouldn’t the infection have been reducing after this time period anyway and especially 2 days into antibiotics?

My DS had tonsillitis at 6 months, he was really poorly. Are you still giving pain relief as much as possible? Has his fever gone? If you’re not happy I would go to back to the doctor.

Fever gone and administering calpol as much as possible. How long did your little boy suffer?

He actually had the tonsillitis with almost a week before we started the antibiotics! I was getting fobbed off a lot by the dr. Once he started on them I do think he was a bit better after a few days. Have you tried Nurofen as well? I think it works better for pain.

Oh poor thing!!!!!! I know it’s selfish but the crying constantly is making me so stressed. I’m in the middle of potty training too and husband working this evening so all came to a head. Hooping antibiotics kick in tomoz

If they haven’t started tomorrow I would go back to the gp? I agree the screaming was awful, he screamed solidly for the week before we got the antibiotics, we were on holiday and came home early! NHS 111 kept telling me it was just teething, I was thinking if this is teething how does anyone cope!

Omg it’s awful isn’t it! Like a constant throaty scream. I think he’s not moaned or whinged for about 30 mins total all day. Counting down until bed time 😂😂😂😂
