My dd has been complaining of feeling sick when she wakes up, says she feels like she will be sick. She started few days before April half term then fine all half term. Back to school and she wakes up feeling sick, I’m putting it down to school anxiety maybe. It’s draining me as I’m anxious myself so I’m googling all sorts!

she went to doctors other day and they checked tummy as she said her tummy hurts all way across sometimes so the doctors suggested it could be Hormone related and she may be due to start her period. Her friend 9 has no long started so it could be possible but also school anxiety aswell? As I feel like her being ok in school holidays and Monday I fetched her home and she was fine all day.

any advise ? Suggestions ?

Low blood sugar?

My DD went through this. Was largely school anxiety or when she was worried about something, but the hormones kicked in. The only thing you can do is help them through it without making it a big thing. We tried the line of, "well go to school and see how you feel later in the day". We also spent time talking about the fact nerves can make you feel like you have butterflies in your tummy which can also make you feel a bit nauseous.

It does pass, but I would say it has been on and off for about 4 years. And almost exclusively in term time. Just monitor it and let her know it is perfectly normal.

So no pain during the 2 week school holiday? I think that is key

I was a very anxious child and had very real physical symptoms with it - lightheadedness, nausea, tummy aches, headaches etc. The summer before starting year 7 I lost so much weight from nausea which in reality was anxiety from starting secondary school.

does she talk about how she feels about school? How things are with her friends?

i took my son to the dr as he always felt sick. After exhaustive tests anxiety was diagnosed.
