Breastfed baby green poo in evenings

Hi all! I am a new breastfeeding mum to a 11 week old baby girl and I’ve noticed in the day her poo is wet yellow / porridge style but in the evening 8-12ish it’s green and dryer? Does this mean I’m not producing as much milk in the evenings? I do sometimes feel that my breasts aren’t that full in the evening and I don’t see as much getting swallowed by her. Thanks! X

Yes, the composition and amount of breastmilk can be different throughout the day. It’s not unusual to feel less full in the evenings. Green poo can sometimes suggest a lower fat content which may make sense if she is fussier in the evenings and having shorter feeds for example. It’s nothing to worry about and will usually make no difference to her weight gain or health.

Great that’s helpful thank you!

Sounds like your DD is 'snacking', ie having short feeds. This means more watery foremilk and less fat-rich hindmilk. It's not harmful if all else is well.

Mine would get green poo if I ate garlic 😂

also can indicate trapped wind/gripe
