Toddler with one big one small kidney…

Toddler boy got a uti last summer which cleared up with a 3 day antibiotic course. Because he’s a boy and it was caused by an unusual bacteria he was referred by the gp to the local children’s hospital.
five months later aged 2yr 3m he went for an ultrasound, which was hellish, he screamed and resisted but the sonographer managed and the consultant and the time said kidneys looked fine and that should be that.
3 weeks later I get a phone call from the urology dept to schedule a DMSA, I tell her what the consultant said and she says she will get back to me.
phone call today to say yes the kidneys looked good but there was a size discrepancy so they want the DMSA. There is no way my child will be still for 30-40mins, plus I’m now pregnant so can’t be in the room with him during the scan. She agreed that 2.5 was a tricky age for the scan and if he can’t stay super still it’s pointless so she agreed to another ultrasound in a year to check on growth but if he has another uti between now and then, then we do the DMSA or if the u/s in a year shows anomalies then we do the DMSA. I agreed to this as he will be a good bit older, but I just want to do what’s best for my kid.
I’d like to think if super serious she would have scheduled the DMSA regardless? Anyone had any experience?
he’s been perfectly well since the initial uti over 7 months ago.
