Hi my dc has come out in a rash gradually, about a week and half ago. Initially no other symptoms. Was putting it down to a viral rash. Now though it is starting to bother dc with burn/itch, and no sign of going but possibly a sign of drying?
Any ideas before I do the gp route of trying to get an appointment. Dc is 14. Is mainly neck and shoulders and arms
Many thanks 🙏🏻

Not headlice? They caused me a rash as a child.

I don't think so as on the photos on. Google it looks a lot more red and sore looking like pimples. These are flat and more yellowish/pink
Thankyou though x

He's a bit old for these, but parvovirus (slapped cheek) or scarlet fever rashes are both itchy. Another one is sixth disease (I had a terrible rash from my hips to my neck a few weeks after COVID, coronavirus can make the sixth disease virus reactive and cause a rash), but that's NOT normally itchy! Worth trying piriton on it?

Oh I hadn't thought of covid 🤔 good point
He had scarlet fever as a toddler, it was awful, wonder if you can get it twice
Thanks for your reply x

Hives
Vit D rash
Viral rash

Might need antihistamines or could get worse. Don't scratch, cool with ice/cool water.

Looks like an allergic reaction.
Has he changed shampoo or shower gel?
Change in washing powder?

Or have any of these had the dreaded 'new improved formula'?

This looks like something my son had called pityriasis rosea. It just disappeared eventually
