ds 4yrs has been in hospital ok 2 nights with orbital cellulitis he has had 3 doses of iv antibiotics and the swelling on the eye is basically gone. We were sent home today and I’ve checked him and he’s sweating a lot even though there is a fan on in the room, he doesn’t feel hot to touch and I honestly think he feels slightly cold but I thought that was maybe because of the fan? I did under armpit temp and it was 35.5 some websites say that’s a fine temp others say sepsis which has obviously scared me? Is it a normal temperature? I am probably being silly but I wanted to take him back to hospital but his dad says no need as he is sleeping the illness off? Tia

Try and take an oral temperature as they're usually more accurate

Can you take his temperature rectally? It's more accurate.
Consult 111 if you are in doubt.

He has autism so unfortunately anything like that is impossible, I have just checked my temp and it was 35.9 so I’m thinking maybe the thermometer isn’t great, he is back to the hospital in the morning anyway for more antibiotics but my mind will not rest and I’m thinking worse case. It’s just so stressful x

If he's there in the morning then call the ward for advice
