4 year old lump back of ear after piercing

My little girl had her ears pierced around 10 weeks ago and hadn't seemed to have had any problems. Suddenly I've noticed today this big lump behind her ear! Does this look like a keloid scar or does it look like it could be from the ear being infected?!

I had something similar removed from the back of my ear. It was a cyst not related to the piercing but it was in the exact same spot. Hope you get sorted x

I'm going to book a gp appointment tomorrow @User0311 , unsure whether to take the earring out or leave it in!

@Lisaloo78974 the doctor thought it was a cyst caused by an infection from the piercing and prescribed some antibiotic cream. It went down using this in about 10 days. Hope you get sorted!

@miniworry ah that’s interesting our dr said cyst but said there was nothing to be done as it didn’t seem infected. Was there any signs of infection apart from bump? Pain heat weeping?
did dr say to take piercing out or could she keep them?

@Lisaloo78974 nope absolutely no signs of weeping or anything, just the lump! He also told us to keep the earring in and really glad we did now that it's settled she won't need to have it repierced. Fucidin cream was the one we were prescribed.

Hi my daughter have same situation we went to the hospital and they give antibiotic but still the lump is there i write to the one who put earrings in my daughter they said is from the pressure of the earring if i remove her earring they close quickly they said the other solution put sea salt paste pls someone who have experience this pls help thanks give some advice

@RhofaGhe we didn't take the earring out but after around 4 days on antibiotic cream the lump did start to subside and now it's gone!

Make an aspirin paste. Crush up half an aspirin with a tiny drop of water. Make a paste. Put this on the lump to go to bed with. Do this every night. The lump will go down, carry on doing the paste for a week afterwards. Every night. I've done this on both my ears and nose studs.

Aspirin generally is prescribed for children due to the potential for Reyes syndrome to develop. I would not put a paste on them in case it gets absorbed.

My 18 year old auntie took me to have my ears pierced aged 4 to surprise my mum. I ended up with lumps like that on my ears because they got infected. I was probably fiddling with them with unclean kiddy hands. The doctor prescribed some drops or something and it cleared up.
