6 month old boy red, swollen nipple with bump

My 6 month old little boy has come up with this over today! He does sleep on his front and slides his way across the floor!
seems okay in himself. We have had a bit of a virus so he’s a bit snotty with a cough but no fever and eating well.
just 1 nipple and can feel a hard lump when pressed!

anyone got any ideas? Will call drs in the morning to check but just wondered :)

Any temperature? If not I'd just take him to the GP like you're planning. If there is I'd keep a very close eye on him tonight.

I'd call 111. The hard lump and red rash surrounding the nipple would concern me - perhaps the beginning of an infection for example.

Thanks @LadyoftheCheeses i did think about 111 he just seemed so well in himself laughing and playing I thought I was being irrational!

I'd just recheck him whenever he wakes over night, I'm assuming that will be every few hours. If it stays normal then I'd just get it checked in the morning x

@YourRedCriticdid you find out what this was? My son has it currently and with all GPs shut for Christmas I’m not sure what to do!

@CaffeineChaosandCuddles sorry, it went as quick as it came! The dr told us to put sudacrem on and it eventually cleared up. Put down to hormones in breast milk.
