Ds 7 has pneumonia , prescribed antibiotics 4 days ago. 5 day course.
Dr. Wants follow up visit tomorrow- just wondering what for? I feel he's not massively better- still coughing, coughing up mucus , tired etc. But temperature is down so I guess he's improving, breathing is easier. Oxyimeter usually reading 95 or 96 today. So maybe a very slow improvement amd I'm glad to be seeing Dr.

I'm just not sure whether this is enough of an improvement but what else can they do? Change antibiotics? I don't think he's ill enough for hospital so not sure of next steps if any?
Anyone had similar?

I'd go to the follow up and see what they say but if you're at all worried otherwise I'd ring 111. DS had pneumonia in February. It came on and progressed quite quickly and he ended up needing oxygen in hospital. He had a follow up after his stay to make sure he was still going in the right direction and it wasn't coming back. They didn't really do anything. I think time is the big thing once the antibiotics have worked.

Thanks @DrCoconut , can I ask how long did full recovery take? Any long term effects?

He had a week in hospital and a week off school. He was quite tired for a while but recovered pretty well with no long term effects. He'd probably have been out of hospital a bit sooner but he couldn't tolerate one of the antibiotics by mouth (made him sick) and needed it IV instead.
