1 year old not himself after 12 month vaccines

My little boy had his 12 month vaccines over a week ago and really struggled with the side effects initially. Had a temperature for days and was completely out of sorts. He's now better physically (no fever, legs not hurting) but is still behaving really out of character. He's crying randomly and very clingy. Has anyone else experienced side effects of this vaccine lasting this long?

I'm finding it sad as he's not his usual cheery self! 🙁

Likely to be unrelated to the vaccine and just generally under the weather. DDs molars started to move up and down at that age and on and off for months before they properly erupted

After DS' 1 year vaccinations, he landed up on antibiotics! Doctor said it's surprisingly common - the vaccine gives them a bit of a cold and the sniffles and then sometimes it lurks for too long and as a result it turns into a bacterial infection - in DS' case, in his chest. I'd monitor him and if he's still not great in a few days, take him to the doctor to get him checked out. The reality is that lots of snot and mucus floating around is just an invitation for bacteria to come and have a little party, even more so at this time of year!

The MMR vaccine kicks in 6-10 days after it is given so that may be what’s going on. Can expect fever or a bit of misery around this time

Hi OP, how did your little one get on? Mine has theirs today and I am immensely anxious. Have been putting it off for as long as possible as heard this one I’ve heard is a nasty one. Terrified of the fevers and aching 10 days later…💔

Hi! He is absolutely fine now! I think all in all was probably about a week of him being a bit poorly and his temp was up and down but then he got back to his normal self. We managed with Ibroprofen and calpol and no long term damage done and he’s now protected against all the horrible illnesses. That being said, I have friends whose little ones had no symptoms at all so you may avoid them completely! I’m sure yours will be absolutely fine - definitely understand the anxiety though x
