Since my newborn was born, she has brown band in the corner in her eyes and rest of her eyes grey. Is that a birthmark or colour indication. ( she’s one month now )
I have brown eyes and dad have light green eyes 👀

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Not entirely sure what I'm meant to be seeing, they look completely normal

CrispyCrumpets · 02/12/2024 10:15

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean there is a darker ring on the outside of her iris? This is pretty normal as far as I know. Irises do have colour variation. I think eye colour can take a while to settle in babies as well.

user2848502016 · 02/12/2024 10:29

They look like completely normal newborn eyes to me, they could end up any colour. My DDs true eye colour didn't settle down until they were at least 5!

Doggojumpsdoggo · 02/12/2024 10:39

Eye colour has so many determining factors, it’s impossible to know how they will end up.

Enjoy watching them develop.

Dillydollydingdong · 02/12/2024 10:41

Those eyes are fine. You're imagining things.

Suntosnow · 02/12/2024 10:45

They have not changed yet, but look to me they will be brown. Ask at her next check up if her eyes look healthy.

What are we looking at OP? Can you repost the picture with an arrow?

My son has a line through is eye of dark brown which is just a marking of his iris

Sassybooklover · 02/12/2024 10:47

My son still had blue eyes at 6 months old. His gradually changed to brown. I can't remember though how old he was when they did finally change. He's 14 now. I have dark blue eyes and my husband has brown eyes.

DappledThings · 02/12/2024 10:49

I can't see anything unusual at all

UpUpUpU · 02/12/2024 10:52

My son was born with blue eyes. They are now Green/hazel with a brown band.

I can see a band in one eye. Might be sectoral hererochromia, which is usually nothing to worry about.

Mummiessss · 02/12/2024 10:58

I highlighted the brown band with black. She has grey eyes and only that bit has brown band since birth.

I can see it OP (I'm an optometrist). It is probably just sectoral heterochromia as a PP said.

It's often just one of those things, but occasionally can be associated with another eye condition. It needs a routine visit to the eye hospital to have it signed off. Ask your GP to refer you.

Mummiessss · 02/12/2024 14:11

@theeyeofdoe ohh I will definitely get it checked out. I assumed the brown band was due to colour grey eye newborn changing to brown or something. Can that be a possibility?

DD has blue/green eyes with a brown patch on one iris, a minor version of sectoral heterochromia I guess. I’m not sure when it appeared but it’s been as long as I can recall so I guess since a baby.

Everyone's physiology is slightly different, so yes, that too could be a possibility.
