Worried about recent HV visit regarding baby weight

Hi all, just feeling pretty deflated about my HV visit today and just wondered if anybody else has been in the same boat.

Little man was 8lb 3 when born and at 7 weeks is now only 9lb 9. I’m exclusively BF every 2ish hours or whenever he wants it. HV has referred me to a feeding clinic and told me to make a GP appointment regarding his weight. Baby is super happy and smiley, although he isn’t chunky he’s super long. The visit has just left me super downhearted and now I’m worrying I’m not doing enough for my baby.

It sounds as if they just want to be sure there isn't something else going on - it can be disheartening for parents but there's a lot of uncertainty with babies who don't give very much information directly themselves.

You know what the whole thing of baby weights is super frustrating. When my son was having his operations at 3 months and 9 months in hospital he was weighed every 12 hours. He’d go up and down a few grams so in the end they tube fed him. 🙄
