Toddler yeast infection on scalp - treatment advice?

We finally had a diagnosis from our GP after months of back and forth, and sending a sample off to the lab, and it seems my 2 year old has a yeast infection on his scalp. It's been like this basically his entire life.
GP didn't have much advice, the antibiotics that could potentially cure it would be a 2month course which he discouraged, due to the nature of the meds and his age. Has anyone else experienced this and found something to treat it with? Dr Google says tea tree oil might help... Another suggestion from GP was Eucerin, but he wasn't convinced it would work.

Head and shoulders, my DS gets "cradle cap" and has done his whole life, head and shoulders (original formula) twice a week has cracked it. A bit sting-y in the eyes though

Depends what you mean by ‘yeast infection’

do you mean dandruff like (seborrheic dermatitis) in which case your gp can prescribe medication anti fungal shampoo. Or as pp said, head and shoulders can help as it has selenium in it.

if you mean ring worm like patches, normally it does require tablets.

well the GP said yeast - not fungal - as we thought it could have been that.
Thanks everyone for the tips, will look into anti-dandruff shampoo - the challenge is always getting him to agree to having his hair washed 😂
