Quick question..I genuinely feel my kids are sick all the time..how often are your kids sick? Always coughs and colds.

How old are they?

I read something that said toddlers/young children get 8 colds a year on average. That's one every 6-7 weeks, and the symptoms can linger. If your child gets slightly more than average, and a lingering cough, it might seem like they've always got something. It certainly did in my DDs' first years of nursery.

How old are they?

As @DancingPhantomsOnTheTerrace 8 colds a year is normal, if you have 2 kids that's 16 colds a year in your house (not counting any adults who have caught the colds).... the time when no-one has a cold is going to be limited unfortunately.

They're 2 and 4. The 4 year is at nursery. I just feel it's constantly something. The 2 yesr old is really struggling with croup just now 🫤

Thank you for the message. I just wanted to check if it was normal. Not many people to talk too

My son (4 1/2) just finished nursery and escaped quite a lot in the 2yrs he was there but since starting reception he's had scarlet fever and a vomitting bug and now he's gone down with a high fever and sore throat so he's being hit with it all. My daughter (2 1/2) just started nursery so I'm waiting for her to be hit with something as hand foot and mouth, scarlet fever, d&v and chicken pox is doing the rounds.

It’s totally totally normal however that doesn’t make it easier to deal with. My top tips are washing hands and face as soon as you all get home from nursery pick up, saline nasal spray every night before bed and a multivitamin every morning for kids.

We saw a vast improvement after a week or so by doing this.
