My 12 year old dd has been saying that when she lies in her bed she cant take a deep breath, she slept in my bed for 2 nights where she says she can.

she has said she only feels like that at certain times once when she was slumped on the couch watching tv and once at gymnastics doing backwards rolls.

she is totally healthy no other symptoms.
its mainly at night and only in her bed i cant decide if this needs a doctor or what on earth is going on !

Anxiety? Maybe the calm app breathing exercises at bedtime
Could take her Dr's for a peak flow and chat about asthma or they could listen to her chest.

Asthma often presents initially at night time. Or could be anxiety either way its worth taking her to the doctors to get checked out.

Asthma can be diagnosed by taking peak flow readings at regular intervals. They can give you a meter and she can do this at home, if it's anxiety her readings should be normal.

It's funny, reading your post made me remember I used to have this, probably around that age, it seemed to be random times.
It had stopped by the time I got to my late teens so I would suspect it was an anxiety thing.

I've experienced this and put it down to feeling anxious (I'm not diagnosed with 'anxiety'). It's not even when I'm really stressed but just occasionally this has happened during a fleeting negative thought and it goes away again absolutely fine as long as I don't focus on it.

I'm asthmatic but when it happens to me I'm sure it's not related to my asthma.
