I’ve just had my baby boy last week, and on Friday, DD’s holiday club called up saying she felt her heart was funny and needed the dr! Staff at the holiday club said she was probably just needing attention after the new baby, which I feel awful about now because this was not the case!
We called 999 once home because she went very ashen, and was brought to resus! It turns out she has Ventricular Tachycardia, which was a very dangerous heart rhythm. Luckily IV meds brought her out of it but many people need to be defibrillated out of this 😞.
Atm, she’s on a cardio ward and her Dad is staying with her (we can’t bring baby into the ward, he is way too young). Since it’s the weekend, things have been slower, but she’s due a heart echo and MRI tomorrow.
The doctor said that these can sometimes be idiopathic, but said that in children it’s most likely caused by some genetic condition or cardiomyopathy.
my hearts’ broken in pieces. She’s only 10 and has her whole life ahead of her! I really hope this doesn’t affect her life drastically but does anybody else have experience on their child having this?
