My son had strep last month which they only treated with 5 days of antibiotics. He developed a cough this week, no fever, can’t tell me if throat sore due to age. Could the antibiotics have been ineffective? Could this be scarlet fever or strawberry tongue ?

I don't know enough about different presentations of strawberry tongue, but I'll attach a pic of my dc's when he had SF, it looks a bit different.

Whatever he's got, I hope he's on the mend soon. And if you're concerned you can always go back to the gp for a check.

Thank you so much. I am hoping they have an appointment tomorrow.

@Laurdylusy did you manage to get an appointment? How's your little one?

No it doesn't look like it. My DD had scarlet fever and she was very ill with very high fever so I think you would know.
She had a rash on her arms and trunk too which had the classic sandpaper feel and then for a few weeks after her skin was really dry and peeling like after sunburn!
