Formula fed baby not pooped for almost three days

My nine week old baby is formula fed. He usually has two dirty nappies a day, but hasn't done any pooping since Thursday. He doesn't seem constipated - no straining and tummy is soft. He's passed wind and left a smear of poop in his nappy. He's happy and alert, drinking milk as normal and plenty of wet nappies.

Some sources say this is normal as his digestive system develops. But I'm obsessed with checking his nappy, doing lots of bicycle legs and massages, keeping him upright to get gravity to help, but nothing!

I'm going to give him a warm bath later and more massages. But until then I'll keep checking his nappies like a mad woman.

Anything else I could do?

If he's not distressed or ill in other ways, there isn't an interval that's "abnormal" as such, the poo will come in its own time. At 5-7 days probably does become reasonable to check through things with your GP especially if it's bothering him, use of laxatives and/or suppositories is allowed in this age group even if uncommon.

@Unseenentity thanks. It turns out it was the most predictable way to make him poop - just as we were sitting down for a Sunday lunch!
