Occasional hard blinking in 1yr old (video)

He is doing it for past 2-3 weeks, and for me it was funny until my friends raised my concerns saying their kids never did it.
He is never doing it when he is calmed, playing or by himself, only when is excited and surprised.
On a Video below you can see him after 0:05 when I surprised him and catched the mess he made with our shoes, he starts that weird hard repetitive blinking that lasts for 2-3 seconds, and few seconds after repeats it.

Is this normal reaction for 1yr baby, anyone had it? Or should I take it to my pediatrician as some neurological concern/tic?

thanks

I don't think there is anything very unusual in that video. I assume you don't have any other worries about development or unusual episodes.

No issue that I see. It looked like he blinked hard thinking when he threw the shoe it would be loud and blinked in anticipation of that

When my son was about 4, he developed tics and saw a neurologist. She said it was very common and not a concern on its own. He grew out of it and is a "normal " (🤪) teen now.

Doesn't even look like blinking to me...this was more like the startled eye close that anyone would do if they were shocked by something (in your son's case, a loud noise). Perfectly normal response OP 🤷‍♀️

My youngest did that. He stopped eventually.

I can’t open the video but when my son was 18 months he suddenly developed a hard blinking tic! Again was assured it was very normal and he would probably grow out of it…and he did! Very stressful in the short term but actually even if he does have a tic lots and lots of people do you have probably just never noticed! Try not to worry! X

Doesn't look anything worrying to me.
