7 week old DS has had these issues since birth- basically he poos constantly, I think mostly he is farting and following through a little bit and then does two or three proper poos. Yellow in colour and mostly have some texture - little seeds - with the odd one that is very liquidy. Does a lot of very loud farts during the day and through the night struggles with trapped wind - lots of arching, scrunching, grunting etc until he releases it but he never seems satisfied for long, like there is always more he needs to get rid of. As a result we both getting very little sleep and I’m starting to feel desperate.

currently exclusively BF.

doctors say no signs of allergy as he has no rash, nappies frequent but colour and consistency fine so they don’t seem bothered about how many times he is pooing and said it’s all just an immature system and he’ll get better.

tried infacol and gripe water with no effect.

any ideas? I’ve tried cutting things out of diet like dairy although barely eat any and I’ve not noticed any real benefit.

It does sound pretty normal from what you've written. I reckon both of mine were having three big poos and then 8-10 mini smears/blobs of poo that required a change but there wasn't much.

Lots and lots of bicycle legs (quite fast and vigorous) followed by lifting the legs up towards their ears was the best way for us to get a decent fart out! Putting them in a baby carrier and going for a fast thirty mins walk also seemed to help (not sure why - maybe the rhythmic jiggling of the walk?!).

Thank you! Good to know this is broadly in line with others’ experiences!
